Psalm 23:5
You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil, my [brimming] cup runs over. Amplified version.

God was speaking to me about this verse and it just opened my mind on how I see myself and view others as well. The reason why we fail to see our cups running over is because our focus is on the other person’s cup. One is looking at how big one’s cup is and you compare it to your small tea-cup and this prevents you from seeing the hand of God in your life. One person has a huge mug or gigantic cup as compared to yours. God gave you exactly what you need and He is not in the business of just giving you what you want when you want it. God knows the future and He has given you your portion which you must be happy with. The size of the next person’s cup does not make your cup any smaller, focus on your cup do not let your eyes wonder.

Remember that things are not always what they seem to be, the people you are envying probably want your life. Instead of focusing on your overflowing cup you are looking at the exterior  of someone else’s cup which is probably empty. The exterior is not everything in life there are far more important things.

Some people are so beautiful on the outside but on the inside there is really nothing. The people that we envy are also looking at others and wanting what they have. Your cup might seem rusty and it seems like you have no life but someone will do anything to have your life there is always someone in a worse situation. Who says this is beautiful and this is not. How rusty, chipped and edgy you are is what makes you different. Do not let anyone tell you otherwise.
2 Corinthians  10: 12
We do not dare to classify or compare ourselves with some who commend themselves. When they measure themselves by themselves and compare themselves with themselves, they are not wise.

Comparing yourself to others is not wise at all. Be intentional about not comparing yourself to others, at times you may find yourself doing it but cut off such thoughts. Maybe it is social media that is influencing you in that way then maybe you need to go off social media for a while. Be radical and guard your heart and be vigilant about it.

Focus on your cup and watch it as it runs over instead of always looking the other way. Focus on your overflowing cup and seize from comparing yourself from others. Be you, keep your eyes peeled to your cup.
